Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is working on proposals to build new homes on Granville Road and Gladstone Road. It will provide much-needed housing for the area, increase the local housing stock. The sites are brownfield, previously developed commercial areas.
We want to work with the local community to ensure your views and contributions help shape the proposals. This website will be the focus of our consultation – please register for updates so you are kept up to date as the consultation and application progresses.
Our consultation is virtual, based in this website with all the elements of the proposals uploaded here. If you have any questions, please do contact us below. Please share your comments and suggestions by completing our survey questionnaire. The consultation will be live from July 7th until the 21st of July.
About
Maidstone Council has a commitment to improving the supply of homes in the borough, its New Business and Housing Development Team has been busy identifying suitable sites, including these on Granville Road and Gladstone Road.
The sites are brownfield, previously developed commercial areas. The new homes will be designed to fit in architecturally with Maidstone, and will be built to the highest standards. They will incorporate sustainability to ensure tenants’ comfort, to minimise their heating bills and to meet climate change obligations.
Our proposals
The proposals are:
- 11 terraced houses, 8 apartments and one single detached dwelling on three sites on Granville and Gladstone Road,
- The sites are formerly developed land, brownfield sites,
- A minimum biodiversity net gain (BNG) of 20%,
Once we have completed the consultation, taking on board comments and reflecting in the scheme proposals where possible, we will be submitting a planning application to the Local Planning Authority later in the summer.
The consultation process
We are committed to working with the local community to achieve the highest quality new development for Maidstone. We want to hear your views on the proposals as we work towards submitting an outline application later this year.
