Proposed landscape design
The landscape setting for the development provides a series of appropriate new spaces, integrating the new buildings with the existing built form and landscape. The site is particularly unusual as it touches on a number of significant town streets including the attractive high street and incorporates an important chalk stream and associated habitats.
The majority of the existing trees are retained in the new scheme along with new proposed planting, including street trees to reinforce the character of the high street and new wetland habitat planting to promote greater diversity along the River Gade.
Below are the proposals for the college indicating the arrangement and use of the space.

The plan below shows the strategic landscape principles for the development site. These include:
- A new overlooked and illuminated riverside walk and an improved footpath along Queensway creating an inviting connection between Gadebridge Park and the new riverside path,
- Riverside enhancements including new wetland areas and damp meadows,
- Attractive waterside mews, quiet home-zone areas (pedestrian priority streets).
