Proposed college design
The re-development of the college is required to significantly improve the current educational facilities as a response to the outdated campus. The scale of the re-development has been dictated by the requirement set out in government guidelines and the needs of the college.
The images below form the essence of our thinking to date regarding the new college facilities with further key ideas detailed below. The proposed 3-storeys of the college aim to create a frontage with a strong presence to Marlowes in turn providing an important landmark reference point for the gateway between the old and the new areas of the town, creating key facades along Marlowes and Queensway which will enhance the visual character of the area.
Maximising the use of natural light and sustainable materials will help reduce the dependency on artificial energy sources. Providing an accessible, inclusive and comfortable college will enable students and staff to flourish.
Forming a key street frontage to Marlowes, advertising college opportunities to passersby by creating a `real work’ environment within the teaching spaces.
